Press Release - Sunday July 4th
DOWN ON POWER

With the season reaching the midway point, TXM Recruit, Railcare, Raildoor Solutions and EFD sponsored driver Andrew Jarman was hoping to restart his Championship challenge after a difficult weekend at the previous round.

With no Friday practice due to noise restrictions at the North Yorkshire Croft Circuit, the SWB Motorsport driver headed straight into Q1 on Saturday morning.

With a new set of Michelin slick tyres on, Jarman was hoping to qualify on the front 3 rows of the grid for Sunday’s race but with a down on power engine loosing him 6 tenths of second per lap it would prove impossible to achieve a quick lap time, leaving him in 12th and 10th on the grid.

Post qualifying analysis failed to locate the issue with the Milton Keynes racers RenaultSport engine and with a 20kph disadvantage on the straights; it was set to be an uphill struggled for Race 1 on Sunday.

Despite this, Jarman made another trademark start, moving him up from 2 places before Turn 1, as the race progressed and thanks to some impressive driving, Jarman made his way up the grid to cross the line a respectable 7th from 12th on the grid and with a increasing slow straight line speed.

Starting 10th on the grid for Race 2, the SWB Motorsport driver made another great start, moving up into 9th by Turn 1 and on the tail of the main pack. Unfortunately the lack of straight line speed continued to prevent Jarman from making up ground and with just 3 laps to go he moved up into 8th place before taking the chequered flag.

Commenting after the race, Jarman said:

“It’s been a really difficult weekend but we’ve came away with some solid points which is the best we could of achieved today” “We were so slow on the straights it was difficult to maintain position but I’m sure the team will have it fixed by Snetterton (round 7/8)”

“I have to say a big thank you to my sponsors TXM Recruit, Raildoor Solution, EFD, Railcare and TXM Technology for there continued support and I look forward to rewarding them with a podium at the next round”

Round 7/8 of the BARC Formula Renault Championship takes place on 1st August at Snetterton Race Circuit.
